It remains unclear. The anonymous account had only a string of letters and numbers for identification.

Odds Fluctuate Before Public Statement

Trading information shows that traders estimated the likelihood of the president's removal at just a low 6.5 percent in the midday period of the prior Friday.

Yet the market's assessment had climbed to 11% by the end of the day and surged in the first hours of the next day, suggesting a rapid movement in market sentiment just before the official statement was made.

"This specific wager has all the signs of a trade based on confidential knowledge," commented an industry expert.

A small number of other platform users also earned significant sums from bets on the same outcome.
